Networking is an important part of ONA’s conference experience, and this year, we are excited to host a record number of official receptions, breakfasts, lunches, special sessions and even a mini-conference for students and young professionals in D.C. Some events are open to all full conference pass holders, while others require an invitation or an RSVP.<\/p>\n

Here are five exciting opportunities you should consider adding to your ONA17 calendar.\u00a0We will be highlighting many more opportunities in the ONA17 newsletter and blog in the weeks ahead, so keep time open for those too.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, Oct. 4<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n

5-9 p.m. ONA U<\/strong>, a new mini-conference for journalism students and young professionals looking for career and networking advice, will by hosted at American University\u2019s School of Communication. Separate $5 fee.\u00a0Register and learn more<\/a>. ONA17 pass not required.<\/p>\n

Thursday, Oct. 5:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

5-6 p.m.\u00a0Reception: Results of the First Global Study on Newsroom Tech.<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>Join the International Center for Journalists at a reception to learn the groundbreaking results of the first survey of the state of digital innovation in newsrooms across the globe. Open to all full conference pass holders, but space is limited and an RSVP is required to\u00a0communications@icfj.org<\/a>. Located in Washington 6.<\/p>\n

6:30-8:30 p.m.<\/strong>\u00a0The\u00a0ONA17 Opening Night Reception<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0will be held at the iconic Newseum in downtown D.C. Enjoy drinks and delicious\u00a0appetizers as you tour one of the most interactive museums in the world and enjoy spectacular fall views of city landmarks. No RSVP required. Bus transportation is offered to this event, which is open to all full conference pass holders.<\/p>\n

Friday, Oct. 5:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

3:30-5 p.m.\u00a0Educators’ Meetup.<\/strong>\u00a0Conversations, lightning talks and a poster session (submissions open through Sept. 9<\/a>) all designed for digital news educators from around the world. The\u00a0Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism<\/a>\u00a0at the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism will provide drinks. No RSVP required. \u00a0Full conference pass holders only.\u00a0Located in Washington 5.<\/p>\n

6:30-7:30 p.m. American University School of Communication Reception.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Network with fellow reporters, researchers, educators and recruiters. Open to all full conference pass holders, but\u00a0RSVP is required<\/a> for admission to the reception. Located in Delaware B.<\/p>\n
