Examples of skills include the ability to play music, answer general questions, set an alarm or timer and more.<\/p>\n<p>The Alexa Skills Kit is a collection of self-service APIs, tools, documentation and code samples that make it fast and easy for you to add skills to Alexa.<\/p>\n<p>At this hands-on skill building workshop, the Alexa Skills Kit team will be onsite to help you add your own skills to Alexa.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll gain experience with three services: Amazon\u2019s Alexa Skills Kit, AWS Lambda (part of Amazon Web Services), and the NodeJS backend JavaScript framework.<\/p>\n<p><b>This workshop is designed for:<\/b><br \/>\n<ul><br \/>\n<li>developers and non-developers alike interested in building an Alexa skill<\/li><br \/>\n<\/ul><\/p>\n<p><b>Please note, prior to arriving, it is highly recommended that you do the following:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><ul><br \/>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/developer.amazon.com\/why-amazon\" target=\"_blank\">Sign up for an Amazon developer account<\/a> (free)<\/a><\/li><br \/>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sign up for an AWS account<\/a> (free tier \u2013 but CC required for signup)<\/li><br \/>\n<li>Download sample templates to your desktop here: https:\/\/github.com\/alexa\/skill-sample-nodejs-fact<\/li><br \/>\n<li>For the best experience, please bring a laptop. A tablet does not provide the multi-tab capabilities you will want.<\/li><br \/>\n<\/ul><br \/>\n<hr\/><br \/>\n<b>Please note: This workshop has limited capacity and an RSVP is required.
