Sally founded and directs the Trust Project, which develops technologies to help both the public and news distribution platforms identify quality news out of the hubbub online. She directs the Journalism Ethics Program at Santa Clara University\u2019s Markkula Center for Applied Ethics and is Science and Justice Professor at the UC-Santa Cruz Center for Science and Justice. She is an award-winning reporter on medicine and science policy, with an emphasis on coverage of social diversity. She and Venise Wagner, associate professor at San Francisco State University, are co-editing a volume on reporting on structural inequality due out from Routledge in spring 2018. Sally\u2019s byline credits include Scientific American, Nature, Health, The Boston Globe, The New York Times, Salon.com and The DNA Files, distributed by NPR. Her book, \u201cNews in a New America,\u201d argue for an inclusive U.S. news media. Her honors include a Peabody Award, duPont-Columbia and the John S.
