Creating the Next Generation of Product Thinkers

Media companies -- both startups and legacy organizations -- are hiring people who can design, develop and manage news products, such as mobile apps, email newsletters, SMS bots, etc. The product approach for these increasingly common roles demands design, data, technology, journalism and management skills. In this session, we’ll discuss why and how educators and newsroom trainers teach product design and development, as these skills are critical to the future of media and can lead to rewarding new career paths.

This session is designed for:

  • Innovative journalism educators considering teaching design and product development to their students
  • Training coordinators inside news organizations who want to teach their staff to be more design- and product-oriented
  • Speaker Resources
