Sara Konrad Baranowski
Sara Konrad is editor of the Iowa Falls Times Citizen. After earning degrees from two Iowa universities, she had every intention of leaving the state to seek fame in the big city. That was, until she took a chance on the twice-weekly Times Citizen and was bowled over by the company’s progressiveness. In her position, she’s led the newsroom through a convergence of newspaper and radio news; overseen redesigns of the print product; launched two digital newsletters; and overhauled the website twice, boosting traffic by more than 250 percent since 2014. In her 10 years editing the Times Citizen, Baranowski has developed a passion for quality rural community journalism and the impact it can have on a community. Under her leadership, the Times Citizen has received more than 120 state and national awards. In 2014, she was named to Editor & Publisher’ 25 Under 35 list. Baranowski and her husband are the parents of 6-year-old twins.
