ONA17 Code of Conduct Reminder

As we open registration for ONA17, we wanted to remind the community that ONA has a Code of Conduct for all of its events.

Thankfully, our community is positive, friendly and supportive of one another — it’s what makes our events such a draw each year. In an effort to ensure that spirit continues at ONA17 and all of our events, we wanted to make explicit our goal of holding safe, harassment-free meetings, trainings and social gatherings, as well as specify the behavior we deem inappropriate.

ONA leadership and staff are committed to providing a welcoming environment for all people. We expect our staff, sponsors, presenters and attendees to create and maintain a respectful environment for people of all backgrounds at our events.

To that end, we’ve created our Code of Conduct to clearly state these expectations. The code is adapted for the ONA community from open-source codes and policies, which we cite. We consulted more than a dozen other codes of conduct and held conversations with a number of peer organizations and members of the ONA community.

If you have questions about the code, please feel free to contact Head of Programs and Events Trevor Knoblich, or Director of Programs Jennifer Mizgata.

As ONA's head of programs and events, Trevor connects journalists to emerging tools, technology, training and resources, and leads programming for our annual conference and beyond.
