So You Want to Teach in Academia?

Learn how to get and keep a teaching gig in the academy. Many journalists have been curious about the ins-and-outs of how academic institutions are set up, so we’ll offer some insider information about appointment cycles, curriculum development, evaluations and moving from adjunct to full time. We will address tips on making yourself an attractive candidate to university employers, and some basic teaching tips. If you’re hiring journalism educators, this is a can’t-miss session for you.

This session is ideal for:

  • People interested in adjunct or full-time teaching posts
  • Anyone who has recently joined an institution -- we’re willing to bet you still have plenty to learn, and we have a wide array of experiences from the first year to a decade or more
  • People interested in recruiting for teaching positions -- help us flip the conversation a bit and talk about what potential recruits might also be thinking about
